Special Collection on Human Resource Practices Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
In 2015, the United Nations (UN) presented the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In doing so, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were delineated with a universal narrative of eradicating poverty, ensuring environmental health and promoting individual well-being, and promoting peace and prosperity by 2030. Subsequently, there has been an increase in scientific research in this space (Chams & García-Blandon, 2019).
A significant number of these SDGs directly impact and influence Human Resource Management (HRM) within organisations, while the majority have an indirect influence. This highlights the integral role of HRM in achieving these global objectives. This is signifcant, as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are instrumental in addressing global challenges and raising awareness of sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental spheres. In this context, human resource management is pivotal in driving organisational efforts towards achieving these goals. According to Brewster and Brookes (2024), HRM needs to play a significant role in contributing towards society’s progress in achieving the SDGs. Our academic efforts in HRM should be aimed at assisting practitioners in addressing societal issues of importance.
We invite researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to contribute to a special issue focusing on Human Resource (HR) practices aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. This special issue explores innovative strategies, best practices, and empirical insights that demonstrate the intersection between HR management and its alignment towards the SDGs.
We welcome systematic, scoping and bibliometric reviews, conceptual, theoretical, empirical, and practical contributions from diverse disciplinary perspectives, including HR management, organisational behaviour, sustainability studies, sociology, economics, and work and organisational psychology.
Submission Guidelines:
- Manuscripts should be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Submissions should follow the journal’s formatting requirements.
