AOSIS eLearning – What is Instructional Design?
Instructional design is the creation of learning experiences and materials in a manner that results in the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills. The discipline follows a system of assessing needs, designing a process, developing materials and evaluating their effectiveness.
When developing the content, engaging the user in the learning material is at the forefront of the development process. Interactive content is any type of material that conveys its message by encouraging user participation. Because of it, the content experience evolves from passive consumption to active engagement. Interactivity can appear in various forms, such as the use of calculators, quizzes, ebooks, videos, and animated infographics. The use of voice overs and videos are also used to convey information to users.
Do you have content that you need to bring alive? We take your existing content and convert it into an interactive and engaging format that encourages user participation in the learning process as opposed to them being a passive viewer of the content.
To achieve this interactivity, we use specialised software (such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate RISE and Adobe Captivate). Our courses are then published as SCORM or Tin Can xAPI and this can be used on a variety of Learning Management Systems (such as Moodle and Learndash).
