Benefits of open access
Open access in all fields offers notable benefits to both authors and readers, and AOSIS is excited to share these advantages:
- Copyright retention: Authors retain the copyright to their work, ensuring recognition of their contributions and allowing them the freedom to share their published research widely.
- Preprint sharing: Authors can share preprints, increasing the reach of their research and transparently demonstrating the evolution of their work.
- Increased visibility and impact: Open-access articles typically receive more readership and citations, boosting research impact globally.
- Rolling or continuous online publication: The process, from submission and peer review to production and finalisation, is streamlined, and accepted articles are published as soon as they are ready for publication, meaning that authors no longer have to wait for a full issue to be compiled before they get to see their work published.
