Focus and scope
The Journal of Underutilised Crops Research is a peer-reviewed online journal that aims to publish high-quality articles promoting research on indigenous, neglected, and underutilised crops. It will cover topics that aim to improve and expand knowledge on aspects related to:
- crop production
- genetics and breeding
- pre- and postharvest management
- integrated pest management
- value chains and socio-cultural dynamics
- resource protection and indigenous knowledge systems
- food security, and sustainability (social, environmental, and economic).
How to submit your manuscript
To submit your latest research findings to this publication, please visit underutilisedcrops.org. Our online submission system makes it convenient for authors to submit their manuscripts. We recommend referring to the submission procedure outlined on our website when submitting your original manuscripts. The submission guidelines include information about the types of articles we accept for publication and provide guidance on how to prepare a manuscript for submission.
Article Processing Charges
The journal has a sponsorship agreement with the publisher for the purpose of funding qualifying manuscripts’ APC fees. All responsibility for publication is taken by the publisher, so authors do not need to pay an article-processing charge.
Latest published article
Recently published research in the journal, titled A preliminary evaluation of phenotypic traits of tepary bean (Phaseolus acutifolius A. Gray), aimed to evaluate eight phenotypic traits and their relationships among 42 genotypes of tepary bean in a controlled drought screening greenhouse environment.
Tepary bean (Phaseolus acutifolius A. Gray) is an underutilised grain legume crop and important source of food, nutrition and income. To date, there are no significant breeding efforts aimed at cultivar development and the crop remains under-utilised and under-researched.
