Journal of Insulin Resistance is changing its name to the Journal of Metabolic Health
The Journal of Insulin Resistance is changing its name to the Journal of Metabolic Health
In mid-2023, The Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners (The SMHPTM) partnered with AOSIS Publishing. The Journal of Insulin Resistance is now the official journal of The SMHPTM. With this new partnership, the journal’s focus and scope will be broadened to metabolic health in general and not just those related to insulin resistance and closely related subject areas. The partnership and the broader scope have led to a name change of the journal, too. Soon, the journal will be called the Journal of Metabolic Health.
With this name change comes a website change, which brings with it a number of technical switches and redirects. The journal platform will thus be out of service and inaccessible for up to four hours when these changes and switches are made. The date all this will happen will still be announced on the Journal of Insulin Resistance’s homepage, but the exact time will be difficult to predict. The journal’s new home will be at journalofmetabolichealth.org. Once the switch has been made, users who do go to insulinresistance.org will be redirected to journalofmetabolichealth.org.
Articles published in the Journal of Insulin Resistance will be unaffected in terms of how they are referenced. Journals sometimes do change their names, and this is a practice that is accommodated by the ISSN registry, the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and the South African Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). New articles that are accepted for publication will be published in the Journal of Metabolic Health.
AOSIS remains the publisher but now has a new partner. The journal’s commitment to quality and rigorous science remains the same, and its commitment to Open Access remains unchanged. The Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Associate Professor Caryn Zinn, remains at the helm of this stellar journal, and its editorial team remains the same – with potentially one or two new members.
For any questions, please contact journalseditor@aosis.co.za. Please keep an eye on the journal’s homepage for updates on the name change.
The switch over to the new website is scheduled for 27 & 28 September. During this time, the website will experience downtime. We apologise for any possible inconvenience.
