World Hypertension Day (WHD), observed on 17 May each year, and was initiated by The World Hypertension League (WHL), which is itself an umbrella organization to 85 national hypertension societies and leagues. This dedicated day was created to increase the awareness of hypertension throughout the world as there is a lack of appropriate knowledge amongst both hypertensive and non-hypertensive patients. The WHL launched its first WHD in May 2005 and since then the WHL has been dedicating May 17 yearly as WHD. Read more.
