AOSIS eLearning – Tested Moodle plugin: Collapsed topics
The Moodle Collapsed Topics course format plugin is useful if you want your course (whether you have only a few or many topics) to have a neat look and feel and for those courses with more topics avoid the ‘Scroll of Death’. The user can expand the course topic as and when required to access the material in the topic.
Another benefit of this plugin is that you can place all the topics within a course together and underneath each other, which helps the user to know exactly what order they must complete the topics. It also prevents extra clicking around your Moodle site and prevents users opening and possibly completing the wrong topics in the incorrect order. This plugin is either set per course or if you are starting a new Moodle site development, you can set the course default format to collapse all the topics in all the courses. Therefore, you have the option to roll this out to all courses or some of the courses.
There is a setting in the plugin that allows you to either collapse or open all the topics if needed, instead of you going through them one by one and changing the settings.
You have the option to change the colours of the foreground, background, and hover of the collapsed topics to match your corporate branding. You can also change the downward arrow look and feel. This 3rd party plugin is compatible with Moodle 3.11 as well as Moodle 4, so you can install it now and when you upgrade you will not lose the feature.
