The outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic represents a significant and urgent threat to global health. Such a global challenge can only be overcome when research results are quickly shared with researchers worldwide.

In order to facilitate the speedy publishing of COVID-19 related research, AOSIS will waive the Article Processing Charges (APCs) for original research manuscripts, focused on the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a registered funding/research project number that were submitted and approved in 2020, for publication in any of our journals. We will also establish a rapid peer review process for articles submitted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are, however, limited funds available in the waiver fund and we request that authors submit a motivation/application for the waiver when submitting their article. We also request that you clearly mention “COVID-19” in the title. Preference shall be given to articles contributing towards the containment of the pandemic.

The approval of the waiver will be at the sole discretion of AOSIS and the Editor-in-Chief of the applicable journal.
