Professor Bernard Janse van Rensburg

The owners, partners, and staff members of AOSIS were deeply saddened to receive the news of the passing of the well-renowned Professor Bernard Janse van Rensburg. Professor Janse van Rensburg passed away on Thursday, 23rd of April 2020, following a heart attack a few days earlier.

Prof. Janse van Rensburg was an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS) and associate editor for the South African Journal of Psychiatry.

He will be remembered as a leader, a mentor, an academic, a dear friend to many, and a kind and gentle person who was genuinely passionate about psychiatry. We mourn his loss to the psychiatry profession and community, and to all he touched.
