VACANCY: Associate Editor for the African Journal of Disability
The African Journal of Disability (AJOD) is seeking an Associate Editor with expertise in areas covered in the focus and scope of the journal and a specialisation in quantitative methodologies to join its Editorial Team.
AJOD, published by AOSIS, invites applications from the academic community. Preference will be given to qualified candidates from across the African continent, beyond South Africa, to reflect the journal’s identity and vision.

Associate Editors (AEs) are crucial in peer-reviewed publishing, supporting the journal Editor as subject experts. Responsibilities include overseeing manuscripts, guiding them through review and revision, assessing quality, soliciting peer reviews, requesting revisions, and recommending acceptance or rejection to the Editor.
Responsibilities (but not limited):
- Managing the review process: Collaborate with the Managing Editor to ensure smooth manuscript progression, maintaining high standards and timely publication.
- Collaboration: Work with the Journal Editor and Managing Editor to select reviewers, evaluate reviews, assess manuscripts, and communicate with authors about revisions.
- Serving on the Editorial Board: Contribute to upholding standards, discussing journal policies, and shaping the journal’s scope and direction.
