Important updates on the publisher transition of the ‘Southern African Journal of Anaesthesia and Analgesia’

Dear authors, reviewers, and readers of the Southern African Journal of Anaesthesia and Analgesia (SAJAA),
This is a reminder that SAJAA will be moving to a new publisher as of 1 January 2026. In case you have not yet seen the announcement, we welcome you to view it here: Announcing the transfer of the ‘Southern African Journal of Anaesthesia and Analgesia’ to a new publisher. We are happy to be sharing some updates on the transfer with you.
SAJAA’s former publisher is busy finalising the final issue of 2025, which will be published before the end of 2025. Content published in SAJAA will still be freely available to readers on SAJAA’s website, which will still be accessible at sajaa.co.za. In the meantime, there will be a website switchover, which may mean that SAJAA’s website will be unavailable for up to 48 hours at the very most. The targeted date for the start of the switchover is 4 December 2025, which means that the switchover may only end by 6 December 2025.
Once the new website is live, authors will be able to submit your articles again. In the meantime, processing of new submissions has been frozen in preparation for the switchover, but all new queries around submissions – new and old – must be directed to publishing@aosis.co.za. Authors will be prompted by AOSIS’s team once SAJAA’s new website is live and submissions have been opened.
Authors will then be able to consult the journal’s updated submission guidelines so that they prepare their manuscripts, and the AOSIS team will be on standby to help authors familiarise themselves with the new journal management system. If any authors wish to receive the updated submission guidelines already to get ahead in preparing their manuscripts, they are welcome to request them at publishing@aosis.co.za prior to 4 December 2025.
Also keep an eye out for a press release on the journal’s new website with some commentary from Professor Sandra Spijkerman, Editor-in-Chief of SAJAA. This will be posted soon after the new website becomes available.
For any other questions or queries in the meantime, please let the AOSIS team know at publishing@aosis.co.za or give us a call at +27 21 975 2602 on weekdays between 08:00 and 16:30 Central African Time.
We look forward to the next part of SAJAA’s journey with you.
Kind regards,
The SASA, SAJAA and AOSIS teams
