VACANCIES: Associate Editor for the African Journal of Disability
The African Journal of Disability (AJOD) is seeking two Associate Editors with expertise in areas covered by the focus and scope of the journal to join its Editorial Team. AJOD, published by AOSIS, invites applications from the academic community.
Preference will be given to candidates with PhDs in the disciplines covered by the journal’s focus and scope from across the African continent, beyond South Africa, to reflect the journal’s identity and vision. Prior experience handling and reviewing manuscripts for scholarly journals is important. A solid track record of published research will also be advantageous.
Associate Editors support and work closely with the journal’s Editor-in-Chief. This is a voluntary academic position. Responsibilities include assessing the quality of submissions, overseeing manuscripts during the peer-review process, inviting peer reviews, requesting revisions, making recommendations to the Editor-in-Chief, and meeting with the Editorial Team virtually from time to time.
Application process:
Submit applications via the online form. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. For more information, email indexing@aosis.co.za.
Deadline for applications: 15 May 2026
