The Integration of Mixed Reality Simulation in Initial Teacher Education
Mixed reality simulation can support pre-service teachers in refining instructional strategies, classroom management techniques, and communication skills within a safe, feedback-rich environment. By engaging in these simulated experiences, pre-service teachers can build confidence, develop adaptability, and practice decision-making in authentic teaching scenarios. Furthermore, this technology can facilitate targeted interventions, immediate feedback from instructors and peers, and scaffolded skill development to enhance teacher readiness.
This Special Issue aims to explore the integration of mixed reality simulation into initial teacher education programmes. We invite contributions that provide empirical research, theoretical perspectives, case studies, and innovative applications of mixed reality simulation in teacher preparation.
Recommended topics:
We encourage submissions on a range of topics, including but not limited to:
- The role of mixed reality simulation in developing foundational teaching skills
- The impact of mixed reality experiences on pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy and confidence
- Best practices for designing and implementing mixed reality simulation in teacher education curricula
- The effectiveness of simulation-based training in enhancing instructional strategies and classroom management
- Comparative studies of mixed reality simulation versus traditional field experiences
- The use of mixed reality to facilitate real-time feedback and reflective practice
- Challenges and opportunities in scaling mixed reality simulation across teacher education programs
- Policy and institutional considerations for adopting mixed reality simulation in teacher preparation
